Choosing an Aircraft

How to Choose the Right Category

Start with your mission, not the category name. A turboprop or light jet is usually the most efficient choice for regional trips under two hours with fewer than six passengers, particularly into airports with shorter runways.

Midsize and super-midsize jets suit coast-to-coast domestic travel and short international hops, offering a stand-up cabin and enclosed lavatory that light jets typically lack.

Heavy and ultra-long-range jets are built for intercontinental missions, larger groups and multi-day trips where cabin comfort over many hours matters more than cost per flight hour.

Always confirm actual range and payload with the operator: manufacturer figures assume ideal conditions, and real-world range shortens with full passenger loads, headwinds or shorter runways.
