Travel Around the World's Most Exclusive Moments
Some trips are planned around a place. Others are planned around a date on the calendar. These are the events worth building a journey around — and what it actually takes to be there.
Editorial Introduction
Why Plan a Trip Around an Event
A handful of weeks each year concentrate an unusual amount of activity into one small destination — a Grand Prix weekend in Monaco, an art fair in Miami Beach, a film festival on the Riviera. These events reshape everything from flight-slot availability to restaurant reservations.
Viatar's event guides are built the same way as our destination guides: private aviation access, yacht viewing options, villas and hotels, ground transportation, hospitality guidance and a realistic estimated cost range, so you know what the week actually requires.

Seasonal Calendar
When the Calendar Gets Busy
A general guide to overlapping demand across Viatar's featured events.
| Period | Key Events | Planning Note |
|---|---|---|
| May | Monaco Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival | Book villas and yachts 6–9 months ahead; Riviera airports run at capacity. |
| June – September | Ibiza Summer, Mediterranean Yacht Season | Peak charter demand; midweek travel offers better availability. |
| December | Art Basel Miami, St. Barts New Year | The busiest weeks of the American winter season back to back. |
Planning Approach
How to Plan Around an Event
Fix the accommodation first. During event weeks, villas and well-located hotel rooms are the constraint that determines everything else, and they are typically the first thing to sell out.
Then plan aviation access with buffer days either side — arrival and departure slots at the nearest private airport are heavily congested during the event itself, and many travelers choose to fly in a day early.
Finally, decide how much of the event you want to experience directly versus from a distance — a yacht anchored offshore during the Monaco Grand Prix offers a very different weekend than a trackside hospitality suite.
Questions
Event Planning FAQs
For headline events such as the Monaco Grand Prix or Art Basel Miami, six to nine months ahead is realistic for villas, yacht berths and the best private aviation slots. Hotel rooms in the immediate area can sell out even earlier.
