Luxury Car Rental Comparisons

Luxury cars prioritise comfort and lower requirements, while exotic cars prioritise performance with higher deposits and stricter rules. Beyond that choice, self-drive versus chauffeur, daily versus weekly rental, and rental versus private transfer are the comparisons that most shape the final cost.

Self-Drive versus Chauffeur

Self-drive rental gives you full control of the schedule and route, at the cost of navigating an unfamiliar city, finding parking and carrying a security deposit. A chauffeured vehicle removes those concerns and is generally priced per hour or per transfer rather than per day, making it cost-competitive for short, high-frequency trips such as airport transfers or evening events, while self-drive tends to be more economical for multi-day use.

Daily versus Weekly Rental

Daily rates typically drop by 10–20% once a rental extends to three or more days, and weekly packages can offer a further discount of 15–30% off the standalone daily rate. For any stay of five days or longer, requesting a weekly rate is almost always worthwhile.

Rental versus Private Transfer

A private transfer is a single point-to-point journey with a driver, ideal when you only need to move between an airport, hotel or event once or twice. A rental — self-drive or chauffeured for the day — makes more sense when you need the vehicle available across multiple stops or several days.

Decision Guide

  • Need comfort and simplicity for business or family travel — choose a luxury saloon or SUV
  • Want the driving experience itself to be the highlight — choose an exotic, self-drive
  • Traveling to a single event or airport — choose a chauffeured transfer
  • Staying five or more days — request a weekly rate rather than daily pricing

Frequently Asked Questions

Not necessarily. For a small number of short trips, chauffeured transfers can be more economical than a full-day self-drive rental plus deposit and insurance.
